On Tuesday night, Oklahoma ISO Field Coordinator Kevin Stoneking on behalf of State Insurance Commissioner Doak, presented CFD Chief Brian Zalewski with a citation detailing the City and the CFD’s determination to provide consistent protection to its community. He stated the dedication the City has to its residents to provide the quality of fire protection service is tremendous, placing Chickasha in the top 6% in Oklahoma. The City of Chickasha participated last fall in a Public Protection Classification (PPC) audit, which occurs every 3 years and determines the Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating. The new rating of 3/3X will further reduce the insurance rates paid by homeowners, renters and business owners within City limits. The 3 rating will be effective April 1st and will be reflected as insurance policies are renewed, resulting in a reduction from 2-5% per policy.Prior and during the audit Chickasha Fire Department worked with various City departments and contractors, which included Police, Community Development, Public Works and USW. “The joint efforts of these organizations allowed us to be able to lower the rating,” said Chief Brian Zalewski. “The rate change from 4 to 3 would not have been achieved without this collaboration.”Water flow and availability within the City accounts for 40% of the rating. Other contributing factors used to calculate the rating included available staff members per shift, training, response time and the emergency dispatch system.
