From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a three-block area of Main Street from 3rd street to the Rock Island Depot, will be shut off to all motorized traffic, transforming the street into a family friendly (and free!) block party environment. Event organizers aim to promote activities that get people moving in fun ways, such as biking, walking, skating, dancing and playing.

Open Streets is an event celebrated around the world. Open Streets Chickasha will have local vendors lining the street who provide free activities and games for the whole family. This year's activities include a bike rodeo, bounce house, hula hooping, street Yahtzee, dancing, live music and more. There will also be multiple drawings throughout the event for various prizes, as well as local food vendors.
“The best part of Open Streets is watching so many people simply having fun and being active with their friends and family,” said Jenn Mikesell of the TSET Healthy Living Program of Grady County. “We invite all Chickasha and surrounding community members to show up on May 4th with their bikes, roller blades or dancing shoes and play in the street!”
Open Streets 2019 is sponsored by The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, USAO, LaForge Properties, TSET Healthy Living Program Serving Grady County, First National Bank and Trust, HSI Sensing, Rotary Club of Chickasha, and Standley Systems.
